For those eligible, Worldwide Odyssey Family & Partners 31 meets the demands and needs of those who enter into a vehicle rental agreement of up to 31 days duration more than 150kms from their home and who wish to insure against the cost of an excess in the event that the vehicle is damaged and have purchased this policy. If you and your family members are aged between 21 and 74 years, Worldwide Odyssey Family & Partners 31 is designed to provide funding for the excess you and/or up to 2 of your close relatives travelling with you or separately are required to pay under a Vehicle Rental Agreement in respect of losses to the Rental Vehicle due to damage (including damage to windscreens/windows, tyres, the undercarriage and the roof) fire, theft, vandalism or loss of use of the Rental Vehicle when such vehicle is rented and operated from a licensed rental outlet.

The Policy is for a period of one year.

Main Features and Benefits

  • Covers your excess while hiring a vehicle at any vehicle rental outlet worldwide.
  • Includes damage to windscreens/windows, tyres, the undercarriage and the roof.
  • Valid for 31 continuous days for any one hiring.
  • Single annual premium covers all hires within the 12 month cover period. 
  • Covers the Policy Holder and/or up to 2 Close Relatives who must be the person hiring the vehicle, and all additional drivers named on the vehicle rental agreement . 
  • Cover for drop off charges up to £200 per claim if the hire vehicle cannot be returned to the original Rental Outlet due to accident or illness for which hospitalisation takes place.
  • Cover for replacing lost or stolen keys up to £500 per claim.
  • Cover up to £50 for costs incurred to open the rental vehicle due to unintentional lock out. 
  • Cover for loss of use of the rental vehicle of £15 per day up to a maximum of £250 in the event that the rental agreement is cancelled or cut short due to the Policy Holder being bedridden due to accident or illness.
  • Emergency travel expenses up to £1,000 to complete a planned trip through loss of use of the rental vehicle as a result of a motor accident, theft or vandalism.

Main Exclusions and Limitations

  • Cover is only available to persons aged between 21 and 74 years at the commencement of the Period of Insurance and hold a valid driving licence.  
  • Cover does not apply to drivers of a rental vehicle who are not named in the rental vehicle agreement.
  • The Insurers will not pay for damage to a vehicle which is not the subject of a rental vehicle agreement.
  • Cover is not operative if vehicle is rented from a location within 150km of usual residence (for example, if you live in Manchester, you are not covered to rent a vehicle in Manchester. The rental location must be more than 150km away from your Manchester home). 
  • Premiums due must be fully paid.
  • Rental limited to 31 continuous days on any one rental agreement (but you can hire a car as often as you wish in the annual cover period). 
  • Rental vehicles valued in excess of £50,000, or more than 10 years old, or which are motor homes, camper vans, trailers or caravans, trucks, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds, motorbikes, off road vehicles, recreational vehicles or passenger vans are excluded. 
  • Losses occurring while the rental vehicle is being used in violation of the terms of the rental agreement are excluded.
  • Losses occurring from driving whilst not on a Public Highway are excluded.
  • Maximum indemnity any one claim £2,000 and maximum indemnity for all claims in any one period of insurance £3,000.
  • Policyholders are required to notify the Insurer, in writing, within 30 days of any incident which may give rise to a claim under the Policy.
  • No cover is provided for any trip in, to or through Afghanistan, Belarus, Cabinda, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cuba, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jammu & Kashmir, Liberia, Myanmar, Niger Delta, North Korea, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen and Zimbabwe.
  • The policy will not operate if you or anyone acting in collusion with you commits any fraudulent, dishonest or criminal act.
  • Drop off costs in respect of one way rentals are not covered.
  • Replacement of locks cover does not apply where only the parts need to be changed.
  • The loss of use due to the accident or illness benefit will only be paid where the Insured Person is bedridden as confirmed by a medical report and the rental vehicle was booked and paid for at least 7 days prior to the accident or illness. 
  • Travel and/or accommodation expenses will only be paid if the motor accident in which the rental vehicle was involved necessitates the return of the vehicle to the rental outlet and/or is the subject of a motor insurance claim or if the theft of or vandalism to the rental vehicle necessitates the return of the vehicle to the rental outlet and/or is reported to the police or local law enforcement agency.

How do I buy a policy?

Use the policy summary documents to select the policy which meets your requirements. Click on BUY NOW and complete the application. As soon as the application is complete and is accepted you can proceed to payment immediately.
You will be invited to pay by debit or credit card. As soon as your payment has been authorised you will be sent an email with your unique customer login and password information which will enable you to view/download/print off your policy schedule and wording. You will be able to access, view and update your policy at any time by using your customer login.

It is essential that you provide the correct email address at the point of sale. If you do not receive your email confirming your unique customer login and password information to enable you to access your policy please email odyssey@ioma.co.im and the matter will be investigated.

Starting date of policy / cover.

You will be able to select the date from which you wish cover to commence when making your application. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BACKDATE COVER. You will receive an email giving you unique customer login and password information which will enable you to
view/download/print off your policy schedule and wording. Your schedule will show the dates on which your insurance starts and ends - this is your period of insurance.

If, when you download your Odyssey Daily policy schedule and read your policy wording, you decide that you do not wish to continue with the policy email your cancellation instruction to Isle of Man Assurance Limited at odyssey@ioma.co.im or write to Isle of Man Assurance Limited at IOMA House, Hope Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 1AP.

*PROVIDING you send your cancellation instruction within 14 days of receipt of the email sent to you which set out your customer login and password information AND *your insurance has not started and you have not rented a vehicle AND
*you have not made a claim you will be given a full refund of the premium you paid within 30 days of receipt by Isle of Man Assurance Limited of your cancellation instruction.

ANNUAL POLICIES (NOT ODYSSEY DAILY)

PROVIDING you

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your policy at any time by emailing odyssey@ioma.co.im or writing to Isle of Man Assurance Limited at IOMA House, Hope Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 1AP, but you will only receive a refund if you cancel your policy within the 14 day cooling off period.

Claims Procedure.

You must notify the Isle of Man Assurance Limited within 30 (thirty) days of any incident which may give rise to a claim under your Policy and within 7 (seven) days of request by the Isle of Man Assurance Limited provide such details and documents required in connection with your claim.
